Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite extended protection: Arbitration Enforcement. falls within WP:ARBPIA5 as there is one of those main characters is a joke about bombing children in Gaza 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 11:08, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, ECP should be enforced. Italian brainrot is biased. 🗽Freedoxm🗽(talk · contribs) 18:18, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. This is rather peripheral to the conflict and doesn't seem to have led to much disruption recently. Daniel Case (talk) 03:12, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Daniel Case: This needs to be protected per WP:AIPIA. I'm an experienced editor and I didn't see that this was under AIPIA's purview until I opened the talk page. It's being widely edited by non-extended-confirmed editors. Please reconsider this decision. ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:37, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. and logged at CTOPS. It is also under 1RR. Anyone who violates that, even if the edits have absolutely nothing to do with the PIA-related aspects of the article, will be hardblocked without talk page access until the end of the next millenium. Should we also consider semi'ing the talk page? Daniel Case (talk) 03:45, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Daniel Case: I vote yes on a semi to the talk page. Without a hard barrier, seeing that an article is under restrictions is not immediately obvious. ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:53, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All that noticing at the top of the page notwithstanding? Daniel Case (talk) 04:01, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, especially since templates like that don't show up at all if you're editing on mobile. ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:16, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Done Doubtless, that will show them. Daniel Case (talk) 04:44, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Restore full move protection that was lost in 2018 CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 17:12, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined I don't see what has happened to make this necessary again. Last attempted move was 17 years ago, long before this protection was downgraded to EC. Daniel Case (talk) 03:32, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Kajmer05 (talk) 18:56, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked: 2A00:23C5:BABB:3901:0:0:0:0/64 (talk · contribs) blocked by Daniel Case. for one week. Will leave CTOPS notice on talk. Daniel Case (talk) 03:35, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Remsense ‥  19:34, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Materialscientist (talk) 01:11, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP accounts keep adding Gene Hackman's retirement and death to the lead graf, which is not relevant to the film. Nevermore27 (talk) 19:41, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Materialscientist (talk) 01:19, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Sustained level of vandalism, typically from IP's. The subject has gained online notoriety and too many repeated memes. Most commonly is adding a picture of an unrelated male worshipping figure as his lead image. Juwan (talk) 21:22, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Materialscientist (talk) 01:20, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended protection: WP:GS/RUSUKR TylerBurden (talk) 21:50, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. And logged. Daniel Case (talk) 04:09, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Materialscientist (talk) 01:08, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Disruption immediately continues after protection expired. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 22:55, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent sock editing, it's adding unreferenced info (I did look for refs). Knitsey (talk) 23:00, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 04:15, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Persistent WP:CT/A-I violations. Jfire (talk) 00:22, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. Will log at CTOPS. Daniel Case (talk) 04:20, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Dispute over citations in progress: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard#P%C4%81keh%C4%81

Edits being carried out during the dispute make it difficult to resolve if editors are making changes in the middle of the discussion. This should be resolved very soon. Chrisdevelop (talk) 01:27, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. I don't see much, if any, of the kind of reverting going on that usually justifies full protection. Daniel Case (talk) 04:27, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Remsense ‥  01:57, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 04:30, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Trans person currently in the news has IP edits coming to misgender her. Nat Gertler (talk) 03:47, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. All inappropriate edits RevDel'ed. Logged at CTOPS. Daniel Case (talk) 04:39, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Repeated IP edits supporting pro-Russian/anti-Ukrainian perspectives with citations either to very unreliable sources, or which simply do not support the written material being added to the page. These are then generally reverted sooner or later by named accounts. A review of diffs indicates that there may also be IP hopping in this case, as different IPs are copying and pasting the same repeatedly deleted text over time (sometimes with minor edits). Semi-protected status seems like it would probably stop much of this. Just-a-can-of-beans (talk) 05:13, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: This protection is no longer necessary because this article has no IP edits for over a year ago, and this type of protection is stale. Plus, there has not been any vandalism in over couple years. 205.155.225.249 (talk) 19:01, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No IP edits for over a year ago is self-evident given it's semi-protected. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 20:21, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Is one year enough to unprotect? 205.155.225.249 (talk) 20:22, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
